Why TwoForksBako?
We started TwoForksBako because we noticed something: Bakersfield has an incredible food scene that often gets overlooked. From family-owned taquerias passed down through generations to innovative new spots pushing culinary boundaries, our city has stories worth telling.
The name "Two Forks" captures what makes us different. We both visit every restaurant, and we both share our honest opinions. Sometimes we agree. Sometimes we don't. That's the beauty of food reviews that come from real experiences, not from checking boxes.
Our aggregate "2 Forks Rating" combines both of our perspectives into a single score, but you'll always be able to see what each of us thought. Because when Matt says the salsa is perfect and Lara thinks it needs more heat, you deserve to know both takes.

Our Rating System
How we turn dining experiences into fork ratings
The Fork Scale
We use forks instead of stars because we're TwoForksBako, and we think food deserves its own symbol. Our 5-fork scale includes half-fork increments for precision.
What We Rate
Every review breaks down our experience into four key areas:
Food
Taste, presentation, portion size, and ingredient quality
Service
Attentiveness, knowledge, friendliness, and timing
Ambiance
Decor, lighting, noise level, cleanliness, and vibe
Value
Price relative to quality, portion size, and experience
The 2 Forks Rating
Our aggregate rating combines both Matt's and Lara's scores. We average each of our individual ratings (which themselves are averages of Food, Service, Ambiance, and Value) to create a single "2 Forks Rating" that represents our combined opinion.
But don't just look at the number. Dig into our individual reviews to see where we agree, where we disagree, and what specifically stood out to each of us.
